THE PERENNIALS AND HARDY ANNUALS I planted in milk-jug greenhouses last winter have finally sprouted -- and how! Probably I could furnish my entire neighborhood -- if not my whole county -- with lettuce, spinach, Brussels sprouts, hyssop, Bachelor Buttons and more. And here's a tip: To water winter-sown (and spring-sown) seedlings, just set them in a large pail of water. Roots of plants will absorb moisture through the drainage holes in the bottom of the containers. Bottom-watering won't pummel or smash young seedlings the way top-watering usually does.
